Holy shit please do not do this. This is the most disorganised disaster I’ve ever seen and all they’re going to do is get vulnerable people fired. Do not go on strike as an individual. Do not do not do not. The point of a strike is collective action to show the collective power of workers.

It is not enough to say that the NLRB has made vague gestures at showing that a non-union strike is theoretically possible. If you get fired illegally and you’re not part of a union, who’s going to pay for your employment tribunal? You? Unless you’re aware of how expensive tribunals can be and have that money set to the side, you’re opening yourself up to a world of hurt.

This is genuinely the most dangerous, nonsensical thing I’ve seen on this website in a long, long time. Do not do this. Do not mistake masturbatory individualistic action for a collective movement.

If you would like to find a way to seriously stick it to your bosses, speak to your coworkers, organise an actual union in your workplace (if you need pointers on this, don’t be afraid to reach out — I’ve done it before and would be happy to share pointers!). If you want public healthcare, get involved in any of the myriad campaigns for single payer going on. But do not, do not welcome unnecessary risk into your life like this.

Seriously, this is so incredibly sus. You do not just organize a general strike on a national scale by sending out a tweet and slapping together a website with no relevant information. At best, this is a well-intentioned but dangerously misguided social media activism move. At worst, this is an intentional disinformation campaign to undermine the labor movement. Do your research and learn your history before getting involved in stuff like this- the consequences are very real

Tumblr ripoff sites using our blogs and info

oniexorcist

I open tumblr after a while just to warn ya’ll about something i JUST found out minutes ago it might be common knowledge by now to everyone but I don’t lose anything staying safe and spreading this info

about 3 tumblr ripoff sites are taking the ENTIRETY of our blogs and posting them in their own sites, in real time. This includes text posts, art/images, videos and reblogs as well as offering statistics that as far as i know, should be private to the blog owner.

I myself stumbled upon tumgir where I found not only my main account, but my art account I hadn’t used in years

(To note: The 3 sites are Tumgir , Tumblar and Tumbex)

You can look at my entire blog through this site, and anyone else’s

I tried doing research but most of what I can find is only other tumblr users who have stumbled upon this. here’s their own posts

(Checked on the post themselves dates might be wrong)
(also if youre the op of any of those posts and wish to be removed from this post do not be afraid to tell me)

From some of these posts we can gather that they have a lot of our info and also, it’s nearly impossible to contact them as the emails on apparently all 3 websites are fake. Only way to delete stuff from these websites is to literally delete our tumblr accounts.

I am unsure on how to proceed with this situation myself and where else to look but I can at least spread this information. if you yourself got other important info to share please do!

content creators are at risk, people who use this site to vent/cope are at risk, YOU are at risk.

PLEASE reblog and let others know!!!

I’m glad I was tagged in this because I’ve wanted to make a post about this for a while.

Tumbex, tumblar, and tumgir need to burn.

This stuff creeps me out. I see my gifs all over google posted by this site. I don’t get credit. I don’t get linked. Nothing. So people rip off my gifs.

But this?? Is supremely creepy. I hate this. I wanted to leave my blog open to find on the internet, because people actually discover my blog that way. But the information and stats that are given out about blogs on that site is heinous. We have a certain expectation of privacy on tumblr, but that site works to undo it. Idk what to do. Is there a fix? Is there a way to kill tumgir and the others?

jedi-grandmaster

Forgot my tag list, oops.

@staff (this is your hellsite) @support @cacodaemonia @cobaltbeam @kckenobi @cc-2020 (not a fun tag this time:()

Please reblog this and tag some folks

cacodaemonia

@jedi-grandmaster thanks for the tag! I found my stuff on tumgir and tumbex. Per one of the screenshots above, I went to Account->Edit Appearance->Visibility and messed with both the settings. The first one makes it so your blog is only viewable with the Tumblr dashboard, and the second one hides it from search results, but only the first one took my blog off the imitation sites.

My partner, who’s been in IT for over twenty years, and information security for about fifteen, said that there are a lot of these sites that grab data from social media platforms. He didn’t seem terribly concerned, though, and said there’s generally nothing you can do once your info is on them.

So I’d say if you’re worried about privacy, change the visibility setting I mentioned above, but if you’re using your blog as a portfolio or want it to be accessible to people without Tumblr accounts, you’re SOL.

EDIT: I asked my partner what the purpose of these sites is, and he said it might just be to get people to go to them instead of the official social media sites. This could expose people to potential malware on the fake sites, so basically just avoiding them is your best bet. If you’ve already searched on them, don’t fret too much. Maybe run a quick malware/virus scan, but you’re probably fine.
